OTTAWA — Two Ottawa men have been arrested in connection with a shooting of a 17-year-old Olathe man that occurred in the 600 block of South Mulberry Street on April 4. Dillon Welch, 20, was booked into the Franklin County jail for suspicion of aggravated endangerment of a child, contributing to a child’s misconduct, illegal possession of a firearm, and interference with law enforcement. A 17-year-old man was booked for suspicion of aggravated battery, aggravated endangerment of a child, criminal use of a weapon, unlawful discharge of a firearm and interference with law enforcement. The handgun used in this shooting has still not been recovered, said assistant police chief Adam Weingartner. “Detectives will continue to follow up to try and recover the weapon,” he said. While searching the home after obtaining a warrant after the shooting, officers found drug paraphernalia, he said.Police do not expect further arrests, he said.
