GARNETT – Two area motorcyclists were killed this weekend in two separate crashes. A motorcyclist was killed late Saturday night when he was hit by an SUV northeast of Garnett. Rebecca Brown, 42, Garnett; was driving a 2006 Lincoln Navigator west on 2000 Road but failed to stop at the stop sign at U.S. 169, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. She hit a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Flint Macklin, 42, Kincaid who was going north on U.S. 169. He was thrown from the bike onto the south-bound lane, the highway patrol said. Her SUV ended west of the intersection. She was injured and taken to Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. She wasn’t wearing a seat belt, the highway patrol said. A passenger in her vehicle, Matson Wright, 12, Garnett; wasn’t injured. He was wearing a seat belt. In the second fatal crash involving a motorcyclist, a Carbondale motorcyclist was killed Friday evening in Topeka. Shawn Campbell, 23, was riding his motorcycle in the 4600 block of SW Gage Boulevard when he went off the road for an unknown reason and hit a tree, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Department said. He was pronounced dead at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
