OSAWATOMIE — The Freedom Festival makes a big noise this weekend. The event is a living history event that features a re-enactment of the battle of Osawatomie, as well as other Civil War-era skirmishes; portrayals of historic figures, Civil War weapons and drill demonstrations, frontier artisans as well as modern art and crafts vendors. There will be special tours of the museum with Mary Buster, the great-great-granddaughter of Florella Brown Adair, the half-sister of John Brown. The festival is Saturday and Sunday in John Brown Park in Osawatomie.
