WAVERLY — Two people were hospitalized when a high-speed chase ended in a ditch along I-35 near Waverly Friday morning. Deputies tried to pull over a 2004 Jaguar X-type that was going 88 miles an hour north on I-35, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department said. The Jag didn’t pull over and raced along I-35 with deputies in pursuit. Coffey County deputies set out stop sticks along the highway, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. The driver tried to avoid the stop sticks but lost control of the car, which shot across the south-bound lanes and dropped into the ditch and rolled over several times. The driver, London Blaylock, 24, Overland Park, was taken to Newman Regional Health Center in Emporia. He was treated for his injuries and booked into the Lyon County jail for suspicion of reckless driving, eluding and other traffic violations. His passenger, Raven Anderson, 26, Grandview, Mo., received disabling injuries and was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. The Jaguar had an illegal license plate, the highway patrol said.
