OTTAWA — Two people were jailed after the BMW they were in ran into a Franklin County deputy’s patrol car near Homewood shortly after noon Tuesda. Following the crash in the 2000 block of Georgia Road, Doran Wormell, 34, Williamsburg; was booked for suspicion of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, theft, driving while suspended, possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal trespass. His passenger, Jessie Elliott, 22, Pomona; was booked for suspicion of theft and criminal trespass. Deputies were summoned to the scene based on a report that someone was trespassing and stealing items, said Sheriff Jeff Richards. The pair tried to leave a field. “I won’t call it high-speed but they were moving,” Richards said. “Just as deputies arrived, hey went through a field entrance and out onto the road where they hit a patrol car head-on.” Everyone was examined at the scene by EMS personnel, and there were no injuries, he said.
