OTTAWA — A 27-year-old Burlington man was taken to a Kansas City area hospital after he crashed into a semi-truck on I-35 just south of Ottawa Wednesday evening. William Stevens was driving south in the 2600 block of I-35 near the U.S. 59 interchange when he was distracted by his cell phone and veered off the roadway at approximately 6:40 p.m., the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said. He ran into a disabled semi-truck parked on the side of the road and shoulder. Stevens was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. The trucker, Adaan Abdi, 35, St. Cloud, Minn., wasn’t injured.
