OSAGE CITY – A man died Saturday morning as a result of a farm accident north of Osage City. Layton Long was thrown from a tractor that rolled over in a field in the 5200 block of West 221st Street, the Osage County Sheriff’s Department said on it’s Facebook page. Long, who was a passenger on the tractor, was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the tractor, Hayden Croucher, was trapped underneath the tractor but was freed by another passenger, Gary Croucher, before deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said. The Crouchers were performing CPR on Layton when deputies, firefighters and an ambulance crew arrived. The Crouchers refused medical treatment at the scene.
