OTTAWA — Ransom Memorial Health Care will host an open house for the emergency department 4-6 p.m. Monday. That will be the only chance for people to inspect the facility in a non-emergency situation. The new facility will begin receiving patients at 7 a.m. Tuesday, said Angie Welch, RMH emergency services director. There will be guided tours of the new facility Monday, as well as refreshments and prizes. The new facility more than triples the size of the present emergency space, sports modern electrical and computer equipment, and has an efficient design to improve the flow through the department, she said. The department even sports a new acquarium and a mural by Ottawa artist John Gladman. The growing number of emergency cases outgrew the existing emergency room. “In some cases, all of our ERs were full and we had patients in the corridors,” Welch said.
