Topeka- It’s a busy time for farmers in Kansas, with harvest underway and hay season in full swing. The Kansas Highway Patrol would like to remind motorists to use caution and patience when traveling around farm trucks, tractors, combines and other implements.
Kansas Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Lieutenant Adam Winters says farm vehicles can enter and exit the roadways at any given time and he urges people to be aware. He also reminds people that just because a farm vehicle pulls to the right of the road, that does not always mean they are giving extra space for passing, it could mean they are going to take a wide left hand turn.
in 2017, statewide, there were 118 crashes involving farm equipment resulting in three deaths and 41 injuries. So far this year there have already been 23 crashes with nine people injured.
