OTTAWA- The Onward Ottawa River Plaza Project will have a public unveiling of the project Tuesday at The Bottle House from 5 to 7. The River Plaza Project has been a community effort to revitalize the downtown area.
Initially, the project was going to be done in phases over several years. A massive fundraising effort has taken place over the past several months to fund the 4 million dollar project.
Ottawa Chamber of Commerce President John Coen, who says that has changed because in part of a donation of an area family. He says the project can now be done all together and construction will begin next Fall and be done in less than a year.
Details of the project, along with donors will be revealed Tuesday at The Bottle House. Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer will be on hand for a ceremonial signing of a bill adding the Flint Hills Trail to the Kansas State Park Department. Other local officials and state officials will be on hand as well. The public is invited to attend and see what the project involves.
