GARNETT- An accident north of Garnett has claimed three lives. Three vehicles were involved in the crash about a mile north of K-31 on 59 highway about 5 yesterday afternoon June 20th.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol a 2010 Mustang driven by 56-year-old Richard Money of Richmond was traveling north on 59. For an unknown reason, his vehicle crossed the center line into the southbound lane and struck a 1999 Oldsmobile driven by 57-year-old Shawn Gill of Garnett head-on. A third vehicle driven by 68-year-old Darla Thacker of Garnett then struck both of the first two.
Money, Gill, and a passenger in Gil’s car, 27-year-old Maxarthur Scott of Garnett all died as a result of the crash.
Thacker was taken to Anderson County Hospital for treatment of injuries. Here passenger, 39-year-old Albert Thacker, also of Garnett, was not injured
It’s been a tough week for Garnett. Monday, 44 year old Timothy Winterringer of Garnett was killed in an accident on 169 highway.
