LAWRENCE- The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer involved shooting which occurred in Lawrence Monday night July 2nd.
Officers responding to a reported shooting on west 25th Street found two gunshot victims. A few minutes later an SUV matching the description of the shooting suspects vehicle was stopped at 21st and Louisiana. The suspect struck the officers vehicle and the officer and took off. The officer fired his weapon several times at the SUV, injuring the suspect. The suspect ran from the scene and was later captured him several blocks later.
He has been identified as 58-year-old Tommie May of Lawrence. Both the officer and May were treated and released from the hospital. May is being held in the Douglas County Jail and charges are will soon be filed in the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
