President Donald Trump says he’ll propose to European officials on Wednesday that both sides drop all tariffs, barriers, and subsidies. Trump has floated the idea in the past, but he says that he doubts the Europeans will go for the idea. The President adds that the world would finally have a free market system and fair trade. He hopes they do it but is not sure they will. Trump tweeted earlier Tuesday that trade partners must either negotiate a fair deal or pay tariffs. Trump is meeting Wednesday with the European Commision President. The U.S. and European allies have been at odds over the President’s tariffs on steel imports and are meeting as the trade dispute threatens to spread to automobile production.
