Look for construction to begin today in beautiful Downtown Ottawa.  After a delay in starting the replacement of water lines in the downtown area, things are set to go for today.  Crews will replace aging water lines from the river bridge to 5th Street.  The contractor will start at the bridge on the east side, working to 5th.  They will then move across the street and work back north toward the river bridge.

The process will create water outages for each business from one to several hours, but they will work to minimize the time a business is without water. Utilities Director Dennis Tharp says it is hard to say how long a business will be without water service.

Once complete, replacing the service lines to each building will begin.
