Though the area has been blessed recently with needed rainfall, several counties in the KOFO listening area are still being classified as a drought emergency status.  Franklin, Anderson, Miami, Linn, Douglas, and Osage counties are included in the drought emergency.  Though recent moisture has eased some of the drought conditions, the Director of the Kansas Water Office, Tracy Streeter, says many counties are still experiencing water shortages.  Forage and production are less than half for most producers in eastern Kansas.  50 Kansas counties are now in emergency drought conditions.
