The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has confirmed it is investigating alleged criminal activity in the Baldwin City Police Department. KBI Spokeswoman Melissa Underwood says the investigation involves allegations against police department personnel. She would not say how many employees were involved or provide information on the nature of the allegations, saying only that the investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this point.
The Lawrence Journal-World reports Police Cheif Greg Neis resigned Tuesday, months before his previously planned retirement date in March. Underwood says more information would be released if the investigation results on arrests of charges.
