FFA members from several area schools are helping teach Franklin County third graders about farms and how important agriculture us to our everyday lives. yesterday was “A Day on the Farm,” held every year on Sylvester Farms southwest of Ottawa. The day is full of activities to educate young kids about what goes on at a farm and how it affects their everyday lives. Ottawa High School Senior and four year FFA member Justine Kennington says that she got involved because of her passion for animals and what she wants to do in the future.
Schools from all over Franklin County were on the farm to learn everything from horse care, tractor safety skills, and, as Justine says, where the parts of your cheeseburger actually come from.
