Franklin County is getting a new upgrade to the dispatch system. It is actually an app called “active 9-1-1” that will save the county money. It will also mean more specific departments will have access to the original dispatch message so they will know what they are getting into once on scene. Franklin County Emergency Management Coordinator Thomas Winter says responders can go to the app and it will tell them the address and any call notes and he says there are other advantages also.
The new app does more and is less expensive then what the county was using as well as providing a backup way of notification if the radio system would go down. The county is in the final testing stages and expects to go live with it very soon.
