A fire earlier this morning in Richmond has completely destroyed the home of Mike and Darla Larose. Five different fire departments responded to the fire at 551 East Central in Richmond, including Richmond, Potowatomie, Williamsburg, Anderson County, and LOH. Larose says the smoke woke him up and the house was filled with smoke.
Larose says that he had been remodeling the inside of the house over the course of the last two years and was getting ready to put in new flooring. He adds that he is sure the fire started in the basement, as the flames were coming from the heater vents. The fire did close Highway 59 for a time while a ladder truck from Garnett assisted in putting the flames out. The house is a total loss. Larose and his wife are staying with family until they can figure out what to do with the property.
