School funding continues to be a hot topic for Kansas voters, and it was no less so during a candidate forum last night at Ottawa Middle School. Incumbent Blaine Finch in an Ottawa Republican representing the 59th District in the Kansas House of Representatives. He says when he took office six years ago the general fund was over 6 billion dollars and half of it was spent on education. Finch says that due to the Kansas Supreme Court a lot more has been added.
Finch says the court does have a role in determining whether the money is fairly distributed, but the amount of school funding should be decided by the state legislature.
