If Kansas had expanded Medicaid would rural hospitals have been off? Lassey Murphy is a Democrat from Lane and she’s running for the Fifth District seat in the Kansas House of Representatives. During a candidate forum at Ottawa Middle School, Murphy noted that if Medicaid had been implemented, maybe the Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott would not have closed.
Other candidates said there was no way the state could have afforded expanding Medicaid, given the obligation of school funding and other matters.
