Osawatomie firefighters were busy yesterday morning Thursday October 25th.  They responded to two suspicious fires in the early morning hours the first was inside the lobby of the post office just after 1 in the morning.  Upon arrival, crews found a trash can had been set on fire and damaged a counter and poster on the wall.  Smoke in the building was cleared after the postmaster arrived.

The second fire was just before sunrise.  Crews responded to Cresent Hill Road and 371st Street where six hay bales were on fire.  The fire was contained to the bales.  Chief Brain Love of the Osawatomie Volunteer Fire Department says both fires are under investigation and is concerned about the timing of two suspicious fires in one night,  During the arson investigation at the hay bale scene, it was discovered that two bales were missing.  A vehicle was seen in the area just before the fire was reported.  They would like to talk to the driver of that vehicle that is a 1990s Ford extended cab pickup with red or maroon paint and a white stripe in the middle.  The truck was equipped with a bale holder and did have two bales on it.  It was occupied by two white males.  If you have any information that could help please call the Miami County Sheriff’s Office or the tips hotline 913-294-3232.
