October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. As the month winds down, Frontier Extension Agent Rebecca McFarland wanted to make people aware of something called gas lighting, a form of emotional abuse. It is a gradual buildup of abuse where the victim becomes more and more dependent on the abusive partner. There are signs to look for. McFarland outlines some of them.
Others include questioning your own instincts and maybe even your own sanity and perceptions. If you are a victim of abuse, you call the Willow Domestic Violence Center at 242-6300 or the National Abuse Hotline at 1-800-749-7233.
