A house at 420 South Locust Street in Ottawa that a few weeks ago was on the chopping block seems to have been resurrected. The Ottawa City Commission had approved a condemnation of the house, but now the owner of the house is doing some serious repair work. City Inspector Jim Sherman says he’s keeping a close eye on the house.
Several neighbors in the vicinity of the run-down house had asked the city to proceed with condemning the house, but city officials made clear they would always prefer to save the house rather than tearing it down.
