When a company is considering moving to Franklin County, it looks at many factors, and that probably includes what are currently the top employers in the area. Heather Morgan is Executive Director with Project 17, an effort aimed at economic development in east central and southeast Kansas. She says the county has some fairly large numbers of people concentrated in a few specific industries.
Morgan says the county has a very low unemployment rate, which ironically could make it difficult for a company to move in that needs a lot of new employees.
