The state of Kansas has declared today as Winter Awareness Day. Officials urge Kansans to take stock of their emergency supplies and home emergency plan, as well as having an emergency kit for your car. Meteorologist Dan Holiday says as people travel this holiday season, there are some things important to have in your vehicle.
A home emergency kit should contain enough food and water to survive 7 days, along with blankets, flashlights, medicines, a battery operated weather radio, and any other items that you may need.
