The Ottawa Black Awareness Committee has opened the applications for its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay contest. The theme this year is “Our Lives Begin to End the Day We Become Silent About Things That Matter.” The question for the essay contest is “what matters most to you that is going on in our country today in keeping with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s teaching? How would you address it?” EKAN CEO Richard Jackson says there are a lot of issues kids are dealing with.
The deadline for entries is Wednesday, December 19th and is open to all students in Franklin County elementary and secondary school. For a detailed list of essay rules, check out the KOFO Facebook page.
