A new type of utility meter is going to be installed in Ottawa soon. It is an automated, totally wireless infrastructure that transmit data back to city hall to the main terminal. Utilities director Dennis Tharp says they will be able to read electric and water use and give feedback to customers.
The new meter will be implemented in the next year and Tharp hope the entire city will on the new meters in a year or so.
