A 63- year-old Grand Island, New York man is dead after the semi he was driving hit a box truck that was laying on its side after an earlier accident that happened just seconds before early Saturday morning on I-35.  30-year old Alfred Thomas Williams of Jonesboro, Arkansas, the driver of the box truck, was traveling south on I-35 when he exited the roadway and overcorrected and the truck overturned onto the passenger’s side just before the U-S 59 overpass blocking the southbound lanes.  Williams was climbing out of the cab and was standing on the truck when the box truck was hit by a semi driven by 63-year-old Sukhdarshan Sidhu.  Williams was ejected from the top of the box truck, while the semi continued across the overpass then entered the median and crashed through a guardrail on the northbound side of the Interstate and jackknifed.  When the semi came to rest part of it was in the northbound lane and part was in the median.  Williams was transported to Ransom Memorial Hospital complaining of pain.  Sidhu was pronounced dead at the scene.  The southbound lane reopened about 9 hours after the crash.  The northbound lane reopened about a half hour after the southbound lane reopened.  The Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the accident with help from the Ottawa Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
