Law enforcement agencies around the area including the Franklin County Sheriff’s office, Anderson County Sheriff’s office and Miami County Sheriff’s office have posted warnings concerning a new “Facebook challenge” for teens. It’s called the “48 hour challenge” where children are encouraged to go missing for 48 hours. They get points for time it is posted or shared on social media that the child is missing. Police say it is not only dangerous but could also tie up valuable local resources in looking for them, possibly taking away from actual emergencies . You would think that kids would know better to involve themselves with such activity, however, child psychiatrists say it’s never a good idea to assume your child knows better than to involve themselves in such an internet challenge. Police say anyone caught participating in the 48 hour challenge could face charges.
