The Osage County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about a stolen utility vehicle. The report had been shared hundreds of times on social media and last week they got a tip that it was seen in Quenemo. Sheriff’s deputies and investigators and investigators responded to the Quenemo area and shortly after 11 that night, spotted the vehicle south of Quenemo. The deputy attempted to stop it, and when it failed to stop, a pursuit engaged. It entered a field on the west side of Stubbs road, where it drove around attempting to avoid deputies, before finally getting stuck. The UTV was confirmed as the one reported stolen. 35-year-old Thomas McCurdy and 49-year-old Robert Wright, both of Quenemo, were arrested and booked into the Osage County Jail. McCurdy was charged with burglary of a non-dwelling, theft, and possession of stolen property. Wright was charged with burglary of a non-dwelling, theft, flee or attempt to elude, possession of stolen property, driving while license suspended, and a Franklin County warrant. The case has been submitted to the Osage County attorney’s office for formal charges.
