The city of Garnett took time out recently to celebrate the active and involved individuals and organizations in the community. “Celebrating community champions and everyday heroes” was held at the Anderson County High School. Out of the long list of “Everyday Heroes” seven were recognized for their uniqueness to the community. They are: Daniel Coltrane for emergency food distribution, Everett Cox, the “Music Man”; Gary Stapp for the chamber players community theatre, Glenn Suderman for significant help to Garnett Country Club, Terry Singer help with haunted houses, Friends of the Spirit Trail, and Wes Skillman for help with Lake Garnett Spring Track, and Cornstock. Jenna and friend foundation was also recognized as a new foundation in the community that provides meat, chicken and eggs to food pantry/distribution in the local area. Emma Self was honored as the winner of the Garnett City flag design challenge. Her flag was amoung over 45 entries submitted both locally, from at least 3 other states and 2 countries.
