If everything goes as planned, the Franklin County Health Department will become accredited by the public health accreditation board in a few years. This will greatly bolster the department’s work with the community. Health department director midge Ransom says the board is staffed with volunteers.
Ransom says, “Staff from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation also sits on the accreditation board.” The first-year cost of the accreditation application process would be $14,000. Each year after that would cost $5,600. Accreditation is renewable every 5 years.
