The storms that blew through the area last night brought high winds and hail, creating damage across multiple counties. At the Ottawa Municipal Airport, 80 miles per hour winds tossed two airplanes across the yard and on top of the fence, and there was damage to the main hanger. The 25-foot steel door was twisted and moved off their tracks by the wind. City manager Richard Nienstedt was at the airport last night.

The damage at the airport will be assessed today. Other reports came in from across the county, particularly south of town with reports of wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour and large hail. Golf ball sized hail in Princeton shattered car windows and it was reported that several power poles along Texas Road from Hamilton to Hamilton Terr, were broken off.

In Osage County, the wind toppled trees in Osage City and Lyndon and the wind blew over a tractor-trailer at K-68 just northeast of Lyndon. Power outages were common and Croco Road was closed between K-268 and Vasser due to a various amount of power poles were down. According to the KCP&L outage map, there are still several power outages in Osage County affecting up to 300 customers, as well as an outage in the Princeton area and Lyndon.
