A rural Pomona man has gotten approval for establishing a youth missionary camp on his property after overcoming opposition from several of his neighbors. Apparently, they were concerned about noise, traffic, and other safety issues, but the Franklin County Commission voted to allow Cecil Carder to proceed with his camp. Carder is formerly from the Kansas City vicinity and during a hearing before the commission, several people from the area who know Carder spoke in support of the project. One man who spoke up was Michael Bailey, who used to live in Britain.

The camp will be known as thriving Oaks Ministry, and Carder says, “There will be no more than six youths at any one time. The county commission voted four to one to give a special use permit, Roy Dunn was the only “no” vote.
