There were injuries reported in the Lawrence area including an Ottawa man who was on K-10 highway when the tornado appeared. Terry Seymore was driving home from work when he realized he was in the path of the storm. He pulled over to take shelter in a low lying ditch off the highway. Strong winds knocked him into a ditch and as the tornado came through, it picked up his vehicle and dropped it on top of him, crushing his right leg. He suffered a severely broken leg, with damage to both the tibia and fibula. He is recovering after successful surgery at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. His wife, Rosa says, “He will be ok, but it will be a long recovery.”
