A member of the West Franklin FFA chapter was recognized for having one of the best career development programs in the state at the 91st Kansas FFA convention.
Hunter McCurdy received a state FFA proficiency award in agricultural mechanics repair and maintenance entrepreneurship during the convention for outstanding accomplishments he has made in this field that will prepare him for a career in agriculture.
McCurdy repairs and restores tractors for his project. After starting his project with two Allis Chalmers tractors that belonged to his great grandfather, McCurdy began working on other tractors that can be used on his family’s farm. With the knowledge gained from his AG mechanics classes, McCurdy has become proficient in repair and maintenance and has been able to show off his projects at local fairs and tractor shows. After graduation, Hunter plans to attend Pratt Community College to study agriculture power and technology.
