A city of Ottawa employee has received a prestigious recognition. Multimedia specialist Mat Simonson receives several awards from the alliance in community media Midwest Region for videos he created last year. He received the award of achievement for local events for his video on the Ottawa Police Department D.A.R.E camp and awards for ripples of change.
He says winning the awards makes him feel like he has climbed Mount Everest.
The alliance in community media midwest region’s is to protect and increase freedom of expression, diversity of protecting and increase freedom of expression, diversity of ideas, and community communication through electronic media. Simonson joined the city of Ottawa in 2006 after working at W-I-B-W and graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in film.
