The importance of paying attention to the weather came into light last night thunderstorms developed over Southern Franklin and Anderson counties. The storms stalled out over the area and produced torrential rainfall. That sparked flash flood warnings for both Franklin and Anderson County. There were reports of water over 59 highway in Richmond that was up to 30 inches deep as well as 2350 Neosho road. The National Weather Service says, “Up to 4 inches of rain fell in that area.” Other roads seeing flooding last night were rock creek at Texas road and Rock Creek at Oregon road west of Rantoul. Through the flash flood warnings were canceled late last night, officials urge drivers this morning to watch for roadways that may still be covered in water and not to drive into a flooded roadway. Chances of heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding continue for the rest of the week.
