Does the trade war with China and possibly a trade war with Mexico over illegal immigration really affect what goes on in Ottawa? The answer is yes and no. Doctor Levi Russel is an economics professor at Ottawa University and was the guest speaker at the First Friday Forum. He gave one instance where tariffs might have a bad effect locally.
Russell says, “The economic relations countries are complex and it’s hard to predict what tariffs might do to a particular nation.”
