Officials at Pomona Lake have announced they are releasing water. The discharge rate was increased to 3,000 cubic feet per second Monday morning. Both Pomona and Melvern Lakes report that the lake levels are down slightly. They had been waiting until Truman Lake was able to lower its levels. The Truman dam was releasing a total discharge of 40,000 cubic feet per second.
Pomona Lake Park Manager Brad Cox is hoping water at Truman can continue to be released, however, that is likely to be a slow process. Officials at all area lakes say, “Controlled releases are important in order to avoid any potential flooding issues downstream.”
