If you have a house or farm, you pay the property tax promptly, right? Well maybe, but it turns out that the big guy, commercial properties don’t like their tax bills. The Franklin County Commission and staff are busy developing a new budget for the next fiscal year. County Appraiser Jamie Wilson says, “Commerical establishments that have tax abatements don’t like it when the exemptions finally end.”
In other budget news, it appears the County Commission may be considering it’s worthwhile to keep the juvenile detention center in operation. No immediate decision appears imminent, but its days could be limited.
