The City of Ottawa will be flushing the water distribution system over the next few weeks. The goal is to provide the best quality water for everyone to drink. Assistant Utilities Director David Buehler says, “Ottawa uses chlorine and ammonia to disinfect the cities water and explains the science behind the annual flush.”
He adds, “The call they got most is about the water smelling like a swimming pool. The water is safe to drink, and a good thing because it means it’s working on the plumbing and the smell will fade in a few days.”
