An Ottawa man pleaded no contest to two counts of aggravated intimidation of a witness and one count of DUI in Franklin County District Court yesterday. 39-years-old Jeremy Penland had originally been charged with two counts of aggravated criminal threat, five counts of aggravated intimidation of a victim or witness, four counts of aggravated assault, five counts of criminal threats, three counts of aggravated endangering a child, one count of interference with law enforcement, one count of domestic battery, one count of battery and one count of reckless driving. Penland had made threats the same day to shoot police officers. Those threats led to the hospital facility being put on lockdown.
Sentencing for Penland has been scheduled for September 9th at 3:30 in the afternoon. He could face up to 8 years in prison and a $300,000 fine on each count.
