As the new school year approaches, we all want to make sure our little ones get to school safely. The Franklin County Health Department wants to help. They will give you a new car seat at no charge and help you fit it into the car. Also, they are starting car seat safety checks. Jennifer Watkins from the Health Department says, “Keeping kids facing the right direction is very important.”
She adds that a properly installed car seat reduces the risk of death in an accident by 70% in infants under 1 year-olds and 50% in toddlers one to four. If you need a car seat or would like someone to check yours, call the Franklin County Health Department at 785-229-3530, or give us a call at KOFO and we will give you the number.
