Homeowners in Ottawa and Franklin County spent time yesterday going over their properties in a new floodplain map. This all occurred during an open house at the county annex. Joe File is with Wood Corporation, an engineering firm in Topeka that works with government officials in mapping the flood plain areas. The file says homeowners need to understand what kind of risks their property may encounter.
File says, “It’s been about 10 years since the last flod plain map was drawn up and it’s definitely time for updated maps.”
