Whatever the final percentage is one thing you can count on is an electric rate hike for Ottawa customers. During the City Commission study session, utilities Director Dennis Tharp asked for 10% hike effective October 1st, with another 5% in January of next year. Ottawa Mayor Blake Jorgensen asked for further study.
Officials say. “The electric fund has not had a rate hike for about 10 years, and right now expenses are outrunning revenue and the situation has to be turned around.”
