The Ottawa police are investigating fake money being passed at various businesses around the area. On Tuesday, while investigating counterfeit 20 dollar bills passed at sonic and Casey’s, officers found drugs and drug paraphernalia at a residence in the 100 block of south cedar. 22-year-old Erika Bond of Ottawa was arrested for counterfeiting after attempting to pass fake currency. 35-year-old Dustin Rogers was also arrested for possession of illegal drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ottawa police say they have taken several reports of fake bills being passed in and around Ottawa. They say most of these counterfeits are easily spotted. Take note of the words printed on the bills. Also, money markers are effective on this batch of bills.
They ask local businesses to, please keep their eyes open for these bills and report them to the police immediately.
