Lice…not a real fun thing to think about. In the past, students with active lice would be sent home from school. However, this year, things have changed. Sending kids home led to increased absenteeism, parents losing wages due to leaving work and other issues. This year, there is no dismissal for students who have lice. Franklin County Health Director Midge Ransom says lice is becoming more and more common.

She adds that students will be sent home with notifications that their child has lice and offer suggestions on how it should be treated and then checked upon return to school. Possibly as soon as the next day. KOFO will have more on the issue in upcoming days.
