Garnett commissioner Bridgett Brechhiesen Huss expressed her feeling about the recent election results at the Garnett commission meeting. She says the Kansas open meeting act, or KOMA, makes it hard on a three-member commission to discuss city business outside of public meetings.
The law was written by legislators 35 years ago to hold every elected official in Kansas to a level of transparency that would increase the trust of citizens in their government.
